Resident Evil Village Treasure Guide: Maps Combinable Items and Missables
Covers what the treasure maps actually are, all five combinable treasure sets, and every story cutoff that can cost you loot in Resident Evil Village.
Money runs Resident Evil Village. Gun upgrades, extra inventory room, ammo on the harder settings - it all comes out of your Lei pocket, and treasure is the main way that pocket gets filled. The catch is that half the good stuff is tucked behind backtracking, multi-part treasures, and story moments that lock an area for good. Miss those and the Lei's just gone.
So here's the full loot picture. What the "treasure maps" really are in this game, the five treasure sets you can bolt together, what opens up each time you swing back through the village, and the exact spots where the door slams shut behind you.
Buying Treasure Maps
Short answer: there's nothing to buy
Coming from Resident Evil 4, you might expect a merchant hawking maps. The Merchant did that. The Duke doesn't. His Emporium sells weapons, supplies, crafting recipes, and extra inventory space, but no maps at any point in the story. That's not a late unlock you're missing - the category just doesn't exist here.
The map help you do get comes from two places, and both are free.
The free Treasure Map in the castle
There's an actual key item called the Treasure Map, and it's sitting on a table near the attic entrance in Castle Dimitrescu. Grab it while the story has you up there anyway. Inspect it and it sketches out the hiding spot for the Azure Eye, a gem tucked in the Special Chambers down on B1 - the grim wing where Bela chases you around. Getting in needs the Iron Insignia Key, which you pull from the piano puzzle in the Opera Hall.
The Duke marks your map after the castle
This is the big one. The first time you're back in the village with the flask from Castle Dimitrescu, talk to the Duke. He marks eight treasure chests on your map with little chest icons. Free of charge, no purchase needed. Each icon hides either a weapon or a fat sellable, and the icons get crossed off as you loot them, so the map basically becomes your checklist.
Here's what's under all eight markers:
| Map marker | What you get | The catch | | --- | --- | --- | | Waterwheel Weapon | GM 79 grenade launcher | Room north of East Old Town. Needs the Iron Insignia Key, and it only opens up once you have the Four-Winged Unborn Key after House Beneviento | | Maestro's Collection | Steel Hraesvelgr (14,000 Lei) + F2 High-Capacity Mag | Luthier's house. The lock code comes from the birthday photo in the kitchen | | Luiza's Heirloom | Ingrid's Necklace + Necklace Stone (10,000 Lei together) | Only shows up in Luiza's house after you're back from the castle | | Beneviento's Treasure | Berengario's Chalice (18,000 Lei) + Giant Crystal Axe (30,000 Lei) | Needs the Broken Slab from the graveyard, and a giant is standing on the grave | | Moreau's Hidden Weapon | M1851 Wolfsbane magnum | Locked house near Moreau's Lab. Crawl in through the hole in the back wall | | Riverbank Treasure House | Golden Lady Statue (20,000 Lei) + magnum ammo | Reachable once you have the Crank and the boat after Moreau | | Cannibal's Plunder | Father Nichola's Angel (22,000 Lei) | Otto's Mill, south-west of the village on the road to the Stronghold. Another axe-wielding giant inside | | Treasure Under the Stronghold | Guglielmo's Plate (25,000 Lei) | The missable one. The Stronghold is a one-way trip |
One habit worth building early: talk to the Duke every single time you pass through the hub. His stock grows as the story moves, and the chest icons plus the well markers (more on those below) do a lot of your checklist work for you.
Finding Combinable Parts
Five treasures in the game come in pieces. The parts are tagged "(Valuable / Combinable)" in your inventory, and when you have matching parts you just select combine. It's free, it's instant, and it's permanent. The important rule: never sell a loose part. Sell the pieces separately and you lose a shocking amount of money.
| Combined treasure | Parts (sell value each) | Combined value | Parts total | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | Azure Eye Ring | Azure Eye (1,200) + Silver Ring (1,800) | 12,000 Lei | 3,000 | | Wooden Goat | Wooden Animal Body (2,000) + Wooden Animal Head (1,750) | 15,000 Lei | 3,750 | | Miss Madalina | Madalina Body (3,000) + Madalina Head (2,000) | 20,000 Lei | 5,000 | | Dimitrescu's Necklace | Necklace with Two Holes (4,000) + Pigeon Blood Ruby (3,000) + Large Pigeon Blood Ruby (5,500) | 50,000 Lei | 12,500 | | Heisenberg's Hammer | Mechanical Part Cylinder (7,000) + Mechanical Part Shaft (4,000) | 45,000 Lei | 11,000 |
Add it up and the loose parts are worth 35,250 Lei. Bolted together, the same five items are worth 142,000. That's better than quadruple, for a few seconds of menu work.
Azure Eye Ring (Castle Dimitrescu)
The Silver Ring sits on 2F in the Hall of Pleasure. The Azure Eye is in the Special Chambers on B1 - that's the spot the free castle Treasure Map points at, and you need the Iron Insignia Key to get in. Both pieces have to happen before the Lady Dimitrescu fight, because the castle closes for good right after (more on that cutoff below).
Wooden Goat (village, second visit onward)
The body is inside the house through the gate just right of the Maiden of War statue, and that gate opens once you're back from the castle. The head is in the well right by the Maiden of War, which means it waits on the Well Wheel - the key item that lets you crank up well buckets. You'll pass the wheel-less wells constantly early on; don't worry, nothing down there spoils.
Miss Madalina (village, after House Beneviento)
Madalina's Body is in the house next door to Luthier's place, the violinist's house out to the east. The head is down the well outside the Gardener's House - the same house where the Luthier's Key is stashed, which you swing past on the walk back from House Beneviento. Two birds, one trip.
Dimitrescu's Necklace (the big one, spread across the whole map)
Three parts, three corners of the game. The Necklace with Two Holes comes up from the well behind the church once you have the Well Wheel. The small Pigeon Blood Ruby (and yes, pigeon blood is a real ruby color, funnily enough) sits on the rooftops past the gate you open with the Crank, in the valley where the Varcolac first jumped you. The Large Pigeon Blood Ruby is down the well beside the Riverbank Treasure House, which takes the Crank, a drawbridge, and the boat. All three are post-Moreau at the earliest except the necklace itself.
Heisenberg's Hammer (factory)
The Mechanical Part Cylinder hides behind a breakable wall on B4, marked with yellow paint - a Pipe Bomb opens it right up. The Shaft is in Heisenberg's Quarters off the MB4 Foundry, behind a door that wants Heisenberg's Key. Both are worth grabbing the moment they're reachable, because the factory has its own point of no return and it comes up fast.
Combine all five sets and you also clear the Treasure Hunter challenge, which pays out Completion Points for the Extra Content Shop. Nice little bonus on top of the Lei.
Revisiting Village Areas
The village works like a hub. Each time you finish a lord's area and come back with a flask, the hub opens a bit more. Knowing what unlocks on which pass is most of the treasure game.
After Castle Dimitrescu
The Iron Insignia Key from the castle now opens gates around the village. The one to care about first is by the house with the red chimney - through that gate there's a shack holding the Well Wheel. With the wheel in hand, do the well circuit: the Maiden of War well (Wooden Animal Head), the well behind the church (Necklace with Two Holes), the one next to Luiza's house (three Pipe Bombs), and the Western Old Town well (a Lockpick). Used wells get crossed off the map, same as the chests.
The gate right of the Maiden of War opens too, which gets you the Wooden Animal Body. And Luiza's Heirloom appears in her burned house around now - the necklace plus the loose stone that rolled off it, 10,000 Lei between them.
After House Beneviento
The Four-Winged Unborn Key unlocks the gate south of the Altar. Down those stairs, the small waterwheel house on the left holds the GM 79 grenade launcher. That's a real weapon, not a sellable, and it's marked as the Waterwheel Weapon on your map.
The graveyard near the church has a Broken Slab you can pick up. Carry it to Claudia Beneviento's grave in the garden (the Beneviento's Treasure marker) and set it into the nameplate. The grave opens, out comes Berengario's Chalice at 18,000 Lei - but a hulking guard wakes up first. Killing it drops the Giant Crystal Axe, another 30,000. Bring real ammo to that fight.
While you're east, the Gardener's House gets you the Luthier's Key, the well out front gets you Madalina's Head, and Luthier's house itself holds the Maestro's Collection chest. The code for it is the date on the birthday photo in the kitchen. The maze toy near House Beneviento also drops the Onyx Skull, 15,000 Lei, if you're collecting the labyrinth crystals.
After Moreau's Reservoir
Beating Moreau drains the lake and hands you the Crank plus the Boat Key, and that combination unlocks a small mountain of loot. The Crank gate in the Varcolac valley gets you to the rooftops and the Pigeon Blood Ruby. The drawbridge on the Lone Road takes the Crank, the boat takes you to the Riverbank Treasure House with its Golden Lady Statue (20,000 Lei), and the well next door holds the Large Pigeon Blood Ruby.
The drained lakebed is worth a slow walk too. The locked house near Moreau's Lab is the Moreau's Hidden Weapon marker - crawl through the hole in the back, deal with the wolf inside (it drops the Crystal Beast, 20,000 Lei), and the M1851 Wolfsbane magnum is yours. That's arguably the best free gun in the game. The windmills labyrinth out that way pays the Chartreuse Skull, another 20,000.
Fair warning on later visits: the hub stops being sleepy. More things are wandering around the village each pass, so loot with a loaded gun. The Duke sets up in the hub every time, which makes it easy to cash in as you go instead of hoarding.
Treasures Before Point of No Return
Five doors close behind you in this game, and each one eats whatever you left in the room. Here they are in story order, with what to grab first.
Castle Dimitrescu: the dagger in the coffin
Once you've placed all four masks and cleared the Hall of the Four, the coffin in the tomb holds the Dagger of Death's Flowers. Picking it up starts the Lady Dimitrescu fight, and after that fight the castle is sealed for good. Loot everything before you touch that dagger: both halves of the Azure Eye Ring, the Crimson Skull from the castle labyrinth (8,000 Lei), plus the smaller castle valuables like the lipstick and the wine glass.
House Beneviento: walking out
After the Angie fight, the exit opens and leaving means leaving forever. There's not much loose loot in there, but there is one thing you absolutely grab on the way out: Angie herself, lying on the floor. The doll sells for 28,000 Lei. That's the single easiest big payout in the game and people walk past it constantly.
Moreau's Reservoir: the elevator ride
The reservoir runs on limited windows. During the boat sections some spots are only reachable in the moment, and there's a Goat of Warding and a file back there that count as straight-up missables. After the water drains, take your time sweeping the lakebed - Wolfsbane, Chartreuse Skull, the lab well with its three Flashbangs, the boat-and-Crank stuff. Riding the elevator back to the surface is the cutoff, so treat that elevator like the finish line of a shopping trip, not a story beat.
The Stronghold, then the last village sweep
The Stronghold itself is one-way. Its marked chest, the Treasure Under the Stronghold with Guglielmo's Plate (25,000 Lei), is the only one of the eight Duke-marked chests you can genuinely lose. Once the Stronghold's done you get one more pass through the village - that's your moment to clear every well, chest, and labyrinth icon still showing on the map. Setting out for Heisenberg's Factory seals the village for good, no coming back.
Heisenberg's Factory: the B1 door
Using Heisenberg's Key on B1 starts the Sturm fight, and after Sturm the drop down locks the factory behind you. So the order matters: B4's breakable wall for the Mechanical Part Cylinder, Heisenberg's Quarters for the Shaft, and the factory labyrinth's Bister Skull (30,000 Lei) all come first. There's a Duke posted inside the factory as you climb, so you can sell and upgrade mid-run rather than carrying everything.
Past the factory, the game gives you one last chance - the Duke is standing at the altar site right before Mother Miranda. Last call for selling, last call for upgrades. After that it's just the fight.
Selling Items to the Duke
The Duke buys treasure at flat, listed prices. No haggling, no price swings, no "come back later for a better rate." The number on the item is the number you get, which makes the money math refreshingly predictable.
Two rules cover basically everything. First, combine before you sell - that's the 35,250 versus 142,000 Lei thing from earlier, and it's the closest thing this game has to free money. Second, treasures have no other use. No crafting, no story triggers, no secret unlocks. Once it's combined (or if it was never combinable at all), it's safe to cash in.
The big single payouts stack up fast as the story goes. Each lord you kill leaves crystallized remains behind: Crystal Dimitrescu at 25,000, Crystal Moreau at 40,000, and Crystal Heisenberg at a fat 70,000. The priciest items in the game sit even higher - the Crystal Ancient Beast goes for 80,000 Lei, and the Giant Crystal Mace for 60,000. A first playthrough that actually collects this stuff ends up comfortably rich.
Where the money should go, in rough order: extra inventory space early (carrying capacity is the real bottleneck on a first run), then weapon power tiers on whatever gun you like, then ammo and heals on the harder difficulties. The Duke's stock changes as chapters tick over, so peek at the shop each visit even when you're broke.
And if you're the long-game type, treasures carry over into New Game Plus and the world restocks them. Lei stacks across runs, and the Completion Points from challenges like Treasure Hunter buy the ridiculous extras in the Extra Content Shop. One clean treasure run now funds a very comfortable second one.
So leave nothing on the doll-house floor. Angie is 28,000 Lei of pure pickup, and she's the difference between affording that next power tier and grinding the village for scraps.
